What army taught me:

Just a random thought to start some kind of series about my army life.. 2 years isn’t that short and so far I had many lessons learnt..

Have been serving NS for at least 16 months now.. Didn’t blog so much about what’s before the but now I have the chance to blog about the 8 to 9 months left in this organization.

Well, for a start: Army taught me how to treasure time. Army took so much time away from spending time with my family and my friends, which made time even more precious than before.

It taught me about spending quality time. It’s a whole new transition for me which I’m trying to get used to. My girlfriend being overseas 50% of the time. My family, now, in a completely different situation where my brother is in a stay in unit and my sister in a very competitive school which requires 99% of her time. To say the least, I meet them only 4-5 times a month?

I’m in the stage of regret, nor am I in a state of complete acceptance of the current situation. But I can definitely say that I’m handling it pretty well. Though sometime it frustrates me, to see myself physically alone at home.

But on the other hand, I already have another home, my camp at seletar, which I have many friends, which I have limited time with them. These are the friends that make booking in not that of a screwed up thing.

Yes, it might be boring at times, to be trapped in a room under the scorching sun. But we are trapped together in this situation where we will then find ways to entertain ourselves. In the process we know each other better.

I cherish such times, because I know times like this I will definitely miss after the time is up.

It’s like a ticking clock, ticking down to the end of something but at the same time, the start of something else.

Time is such a valuable thing.
